PRO INNO Final announcement

PRO INNO Europe® - 6 years of developing better innovation policies

Dear Visitors,

18th of August is the last day of PRO INNO Europe®.  Our aim was to become the focal point for innovation policy analysis and policy cooperation in Europe. We wanted to learn from the best and contribute to the development of new and better innovation policies in Europe.

PRO INNO Europe® community was sharing experiences and knowledge via this website, direct communication and events. We were all meeting every year at the Annual Partnering Event.  Our activities were structured around five pillars:

Policy analysis

1. Benchmarking of innovation performance (INNO-Metrics)
2. Analysing major innovation trends (INNO-Policy Trendchart)
3. Pooling of world-wide knowledge and contacts with regard to innovation policy and business innovation and facilitating a dialogue between public authorities, industry and academia on innovation policy (INNO-GRIPS)

Policy cooperation

4. Stimulating transnational innovation policy cooperation (INNO-Nets)
5. Providing incentives for joint innovation actions (INNO-Actions)

Thanks to commitment and contribution of particular projects,  eight PIE® Newsletters were published. Project teams published many policy documents and reports aiming at accelerating debate on innovation within the EU. We also created repository of Best Practices to showcase the achievements of particular actions and projects.

PIE® unlocked the potential of innovation policy and innovation support actors and paved the way to further actions, such as the European Mobile and Mobility Industries Alliance and the European Creative Industries Alliance

The project is coming to an end but efforts to help EU enterprises to innovate better are ongoing. We will be cooperating within the framework of new initiatives and build on lessons learned from PRO INNO Europe®.

The European Cluster Alliance is an open platform that was established to maintain a permanent policy dialogue at EU level among national and regional public authorities responsible for developing cluster policies and managing cluster programmes in their countries.

This policy dialogue aims at raising the level of excellence and efficiency of cluster policies in Europe which will result in the creation of more competitive world-class clusters in Europe, as recently proposed by the Commission Communication on clusters.

The European Cluster Alliance was founded in September 2006 by the partners involved in 4 cluster policy projects funded under the PRO INNO Europe® initiative of the European Commission. It has been welcomed by the Competitiveness Council as in important European initiative to foster cluster cooperation.

The European Cluster Alliance is much more than just another cluster networking project. Since January 2008, it is open to external public cluster-relevant organisations in Europe willing to share experiences and to develop joint activities with the other partners of the Alliance.

The European Cluster Alliance aims at becoming the single place at EU level for elaborating new ideas and practical tools for improving cluster policy in Europe and for fostering European cooperation at policy level that will facilitate the further development of more competitive world-class clusters in Europe.
