VALOR Pilot Call for Proposals: Results

Eight VALOR partners joined forces and launched the first VALOR call for proposals before the summer. Submitted proposals (deadline was 31 July!) were examined for VALOR eligibility and thereafter sent to external experts for an in-depth evaluation of the market potential, feasibility, economic value, etc. of the proposal.

In total, the VALOR Joint Committee (VJC) received 35 proposals -- of these, a few of these were not eligible for VALOR. In the first review round, 17 proposals were found to be eligible, while in the second round, another 6 proposals were selected. The geographic distribution of the selected proposals is as follows: one proposal each from UK and Germany; two proposals each from Italy and Slovenia; three proposals from the Netherlands; six propsals from Spain, and four proposals each from Turkey and Israel.

Just over half of the projects are related to start-ups (the invention or business creation phase), while those related to technology are limited. The projects are spread across the following fields:

- ICT/Web: 3 proposals
- biomed: 7 proposals
- production/design: 7 proposals
- bio-industry: 2 proposals
- marketing: 3 proposals
- other: 1 proposal.
