Project Title:
IMQ NET - The Innovation Initiatives Quality Management Network
Acronym:
IMQ NET
Programme:
Sixth Framework Program - Research and Innovation
Duration:
12months
Start Date:
October, 2006
End Date:
October, 2007
Abstract:
IMQ NET is an SSA that will develop a different method of learning from management expertise, based on thematic workshops. Discussions about examples of good practice will be based on measurable and measured results relating directly to individual objectives.
Overview:
Quality Management (QM) Systems are widely and successfully applied to design, execute and continuously improve the quality of products and services, including those of Technology Support Programmes (TSPs). The focus and implementation of QM systems vary greatly, because design and management of TSPs vary due to different individual innovation system conditions and different technology support strategies. On the other hand, most support programmes use similar instruments to achieve similar objectives. Consequently, there is a high potential for different programmes to learn from each other. This is usually done by studying examples of good practice. IMQ NET is an SSA that will develop a different method of learning from management expertise, based on thematic workshops. Discussions about examples of good practice will be based on measurable and measured results relating directly to individual objectives.
Key activities:
Based on an exchange of experience of existing QM approaches for TSPs, IMQ-Net will develop and test a structured reciprocal peer review and consulting process (SRPRC) between TSPs.
Core aspects of the SRPRC are:

- A broad compilation of quality topics for technology support programmes, including measurable indicators for results, processes and structures
- A structure of relevant topical programme groups that serve as focus points for distinctive SRPRC discussion-workshops
- A standard process for the SRPRC discussion workshops series.
Expected impact:
The SRPRC method allows existing expertise in effective TSP management to be made available for the improvement of national or regional support programmes. In addition, a common understanding about TSP quality approach and management will be developed and TSP aligned where appropriate. Co-operation between TSPs will also be made easier.
