Towards a Pan-European initiative in support of innovation in creative industries in Europe

At a workshop "La dynamique créative européenne" organised by the Association des Chambres de Commerce et d'Industrie de Paris and the EU Representation of Ile-de-France on 2 March Mette Koefoed Quinn from DG Enterprise and Industry presented the main elements of a new Commission initiative in support of innovation in creative industries in Europe. "We propose to create a European platform where local, regional and national policy makers interested in creative and cultural industries can meet to discuss new approaches on how to better support these industries in Europe, as well as how other sectors could benefit from them as input into their innovation activities" she said. A call for proposals is expected to be launced later this year under the EIP sub-programme of the Competitiveness and Innovation framework Programme to implement this new initiative.
