Portugal: COMPETE presents programme results

The Competitiveness Factors Operational Programme (COMPETE) organised, together with the Ministry of Economy and Employment, on 20th December 2011, a forum and exhibition where the results of the programme were presented and the competitiveness and internationalisation of Portuguese clusters were discussed.

Germany: Innovation Survey 2011 by ZEW finds 8% increase in private sector innovation expenditure

The Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) has published the main results of the Innovation Survey 2011, the largest national survey on innovation activities of companies, which is part of the EU’s Community Innovation Survey (CIS). According to the survey, German enterprises invested € 121.3 billion in 2010 in the development and introduction of new products and processes, an increase by 8% compared to 2009, but still below the peak value of 2008 (€ 125.9 billion). Estimates given by companies for their investments in 2011 indicate that a new all-time-high may have been reached last year (figures are still to be validated in the forthcoming survey).

Norway reduces required capital stock to establish a Limited Liability Company

The Norwegian government has reduced the required capital stock which is needed to establish a Limited Liability Company from 100,000 NOK (about 13,000 EUR) to 30,000 NOK (about 4,000 EUR). The purpose of the amendment is to stimulate entrepreneurship, innovation and growth.
