Human Resources and Skills for Innovation
If Europe is to become "the most competitive and dynamic knowledge-based economy by the end of the decade", there is an implicit reliance on appropriate skills being available to drive the knowledge economy and contribute to innovating enterprises.
Human Capital is one of the key factors influencing innovation and there is evidence, from studies of both consumer and producer behaviour, that better skilled individuals tend to adopt innovation sooner than less-skilled individuals.
The general objective of this workshop is to look at some of the key issues and drivers of human capital and skills development for innovation. This is a broad subject area and in order to focus the discussion a number of themes will be chosen which represent some of the current issues. These may include for example:
- How do we identify the skills that are needed to facilitate innovation?
- How do we influence the existing education and training system to deliver skills for innovation?
- Mobility of human capital between sectors and particularly towards SMEs
For practitioners a platform has been developed to provide more information on the theme and links to country specific documents, measures and links.
