  • CMQ - Cluster Manager Qualification summary report

  • Results of a comprehensive survey on tasks, skills and training needs of European cluster managers

Aiming at a better understanding of cluster management challenges and preparing the ground for future training programmes for cluster managers, the INNO-Net CEE-ClusterNetwork conducted a large-scale survey on tasks, necessary skills and training needs of cluster managers. Across Europe, 107 cluster managers and 52 cluster stakeholders answered an online questionnaire covering several questions, including the following.

    • What tasks and skills do cluster managers themselves consider most important?
    • Do cluster stakeholders (such as innovation agencies or ministries) have a different view on a cluster manager’s tasks and necessary skills?
    • To what extent are age, size, sector and location of clusters relevant to tasks and requested skills of cluster managers?
    • Is there a need for development of new training sessions at an international level?
    • How much time and money is available and how are decisions on training generally taken?

The evaluation had a particular focus: internationalisation activities. A group of respondents with a particular interest in internationalisation was identified and analysed by country, size, age of cluster and sector.
