INNO-Appraisal Team
The INNO-Appraisal Team includes the following organisations, all of which are leading research institutes and consultancy organisations operating in the EU and internationally.
Leading the study team is the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research (MIoIR) at the Manchester University. MIoIR is a merger of the renowned and prestigious institutes PREST and CRIC and a group of academics from other research centres at Manchester. MIoIR is now one of the largest research centres in the field of innovation economy and policy, with a high level of academic output, stakeholder engagement and teaching. In the INNO-Appraisal project, MIoIR is represented by Prof. Jakob Edler (coordinator), Dr. Paul Cunningham, Dr. John Rigby, Ms. Debbie Cox and Mr. Abdullah Gok.
ATLANTIS Consulting S.A.is a private consulting firm established in Thessaloniki, Greece in 1992, which creates research and consultancy teams from its staff of engineers, economists, and IT specialists. During its existence, it has developed a wide network of external collaborators including 130 organisations and companies around Europe and more than 60 individual scientists and senior consultants. Atlantis joins the project with Ms. Effie Amanatidou and Ms. Ioanna Garefi.
Joanneum Research: The Institute of Technology and Regional Policy (InTeReg) is a socio-economic research institute of Joanneum Research Ltd., a major centre for applied research in Austria. Joanneum undertakes research and advisory work at the interface of science, economy and politics, and offer its clients scientifically based decision support in the fields of technology and innovation policy, regional policy and labour market policy. Mr. Michael Dinges and Mr. Wolfgang Polt represent Joanneum Research in the INNO-Appraisal Project.
Fraunhofer Institute Systems and Innovation Research from Germany has been a pioneer for many years especially in the area of policy evaluation, utilizing a broad spectrum of methods and taking advantage of its broad thematic spectrum and context knowledge. It works continuously at the development of professional standards for evaluation processes and training in this area. For instance, the Fraunhofer ISI contributed to a comprehensive system evaluation of the cross-disciplinary Norwegian national research council (Norges forskningsråd) on behalf of the Norwegian Research Ministry. In a consortium of European research institutes Fraunhofer ISI analysed the conceptual and methodological requirements of the evaluation of socio-economic effects of public research promotion and documented this comprehensive study. Additionally, the institute participated in the thematic network Socio-Economic Evaluation of Public RTD Policies (EPUB), a major study on innovation of socio-economic impact of the last decade. Ms. Susanne Buehrer and Ms. Ann Zimmerman represent Fraunhofer ISI in the project.
Wise Guys Ltd. was established in 2000 to allow its Director, Ken Guy, to operate as a freelance consultant, conducting innovation policy research and providing advice to innovation policymakers and administrators. Ken Guy has many years of experience in the field of innovation policy, both as an academic in organisations such as the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) at the University of Sussex, and as the founder in 1989 of Technopolis Ltd, an innovation policy consultancy which, by the time of his departure in January 2000, had grown to be a leader in its field, with offices in Brighton, Amsterdam, Paris and Vienna.
Inno Appraisal Steering Committee
The INNO-Appraisal project has the benefit of a steering committee which comprises highly experienced policy makers and analysts. We should add that the information below relates only to the current role for each member: our steering committee members have wide experience, often outside of their current area of interest or profession.
So far as the study team is concerned, we are delighted to have such an experienced and eminent group of advisors. Their help in the development of our questionnaire and with other aspects of the study has been very much appreciated and we look forward to continuing to work with them.
